ORIBE Patent Law Firm (弁理士法人オリベ特許事務所) is a Japanese patent law firm based in Nagoya, Japan. We handle Japan-related patent, trademark, design, and other IP matters for overseas IP firms, law firms, companies, and individuals.

Filing of patent and utility model applications at the JPO, including PCT national phase entry and Paris Convention priority filings. We prepare Japanese-language specifications and claims based on instructions or existing foreign applications, and handle prosecution through to grant.
Filing of trademark applications at the JPO, including Madrid Protocol designations and direct national filings. We handle JPO provisional refusal responses in Madrid cases, and manage prosecution through to registration. Availability searches also available prior to filing.
Filing of design (industrial design) applications at the JPO, including Paris Convention priority filings. Japan design registration protects the appearance of articles — including partial designs. We handle preparation and prosecution of design applications on behalf of overseas firms and clients.
Availability searches for trademarks prior to filing, freedom-to-operate (FTO) searches and opinions for patents, prior art searches, and invalidity searches. We provide written opinions in English on request. Useful for companies entering the Japanese market or managing IP risk.
Appeal against JPO final refusals (patent and trademark), invalidation trials, opposition proceedings, and cancellation actions (including non-use cancellation of trademarks). We can advise on prospects and handle proceedings before the JPO on behalf of overseas principals.
For Japanese clients wishing to protect IP in overseas markets, we coordinate with local patent and trademark agents in the relevant countries. We handle PCT filings originating from Japan, and Madrid Protocol filings designating overseas territories, in coordination with overseas associates.
